Maria Galitsi is a trainee relational psychoanalytic psychotherapist in the Master's program in "Clinical Psychotherapy based on the skills of Relational Psychotherapy" at the Institute for Relational and Group Psychotherapy (Athens) with foundational studies in Social Work and advanced training in relation to special education and developmental and intellectual disabilities. As part of continuous training, she is attending seminars related to psychoanalysis and group dynamics. She is in weekly clinical supervision as well as individual and group psychotherapy.
In recent years, she has been working in disability services, supporting population with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families by carrying out individual and group counseling programs. In previous years, she had been involved in projects related to refugee population support with several years of experience in a United Nations Intergovernmental Organization with main responsibilities to ensure quality conduct of needs assessment of vulnerable population groups, overseeing case management planning, building positive relationships within the team and conflict resolution in a multicultural environment. She has also worked in child protection agencies with a main focus on the smooth integration of unprotected children into society either by returning them to their biological environment or through fostering/adoption processes. In addition, for about ten years she worked as an editor for various press agencies.
