John Sloane is a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who was in private practice in Toronto from 1973 to June 2025 when he retired. He was an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, and is a supervising analyst at the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis. He is still an active participant in a longstanding Relational study group, various theological discussions, and the husband of a fine woman who has taught him a great deal about good-enough mothering and fathering. He is the proud and thankful parent of five lively daughters and twelve grandchildren – who continue to teach him how to enjoy life.
